Over the past four years, Caverna Independent Schools has continued to invest in our students, schools, facilities, technology, security, athletics, and academic opportunities.
Facilities, Athletics, Security & Technology
CMS/CHS Gymnasium & Cafeteria: Removed unused industrial fans; installed a new gym floor and digital board; painted the gym; added new concession-area tile; renovated gym bathrooms and updated locker rooms; added spray foam insulation in locker room roofing to prevent pipes from freezing; and added fresh paint, café-style seating, and new floor tile in the cafeteria.
Softball & Baseball: Added outdoor seating pavilions and restrooms; revived fields with sod, seeding, and turface; painted dugouts; added new signage, netting, backstop padding, and a softball wall.
CES: Painted the gymnasium and interior walls; installed new hallway floor tile; updated and secured the front entry awning; installed a new roofing system; and painted exterior doors.
CMS/CHS: Painted exterior doors and awnings; added roofing sealant to extend the warranty and change the color; installed new tennis courts; and resurfaced the track.
Security & Technology: Added Smartboard technology in all classrooms; security doors, magnetic locking mechanisms, and key card access; security cameras inside and outside facilities; exterior safety lighting; double-entry door systems at CMS and CES; a secure CES front-office vestibule; and an additional SRO.

Academic Enhancements & Achievements
Caverna has expanded the Computer Science pathway with WeLead, vertically aligned K–12 ELA, increased KSA rankings, remodeled and invested in a state-of-the-art Culinary classroom, reduced novice performance across all levels and content areas, and earned BETA District of Distinction recognition.
Additional student pathways now include Welding, Business, Graphic Design, Education, and Vet Tech, along with upgraded Industrial Maintenance equipment and opportunities to participate in Job Corps. Student accomplishments include two Gatton Academy graduates, one current Gatton Academy student, and multiple Governor’s Scholar participants.
Currently, 82% of juniors and seniors are enrolled in Dual Credit coursework, with a 100% Dual Credit pass rate. The Class of 2026 achieved a 98.4% post-secondary readiness rate. Caverna has also participated in the KDE Defense Roadshow, successfully implemented Student Defense Presentations, and was featured as a KDE Lunch & Learn presenter.
Our commitment to students begins early, with a 5-Star Preschool Rating and UFLI-trained staff.
