September 22, 2026 — Caverna Independent Schools is proud to announce the approval of its Local Indicators of Quality by the Caverna Independent Schools Board of Education and the upcoming public release of the district’s Community Indicators of Quality Dashboard. This milestone represents several years of work focused on defining student success, documenting growth, and creating a transparent way to share district progress with the community.

The work began during the 2021–2022 school year with the formation of the Next Gen Committee, which helped establish the five competencies of Caverna’s Profile of a Colonel: Communicator, Collaborator, Innovator, Self-Directed, and Civic/Globally Minded. In 2022, the district created the Profile of a Colonel digital binder and began implementing student defenses, continuing to refine the process, resources, and expectations over the following years.

The development of Caverna’s 2024–2025 Strategic Plan provided a broader framework for connecting the Profile of a Colonel to district priorities and identifying the Local Indicators of Quality most important to students, staff, and stakeholders. Building on this work, Caverna developed its Community Indicators of Quality Dashboard in-house to bring the Strategic Plan, Profile of a Colonel, Local Indicators of Quality, and supporting evidence together in one centralized resource.

During the summer of 2026, Caverna gathered feedback from staff and stakeholders and used that input to refine the dashboard and related systems for evidence collection and student defenses. With the Local Indicators of Quality now approved, the district has reached an important milestone in this multi-year initiative.

The Community Indicators of Quality Dashboard will be officially released to the public at the conclusion of the first quarter in October 2026. The dashboard will provide the community with an accessible look at how Caverna measures progress and the work taking place across the district. Ultimately, this initiative is about creating a clear connection between community priorities and district priorities, ensuring that the work of Caverna Independent Schools reflects what matters most to the students, families, staff, and communities it serves.
